Belgrade Polymer Products marks employee’s 30 years’ service
Belgrade Polymer Products marks employee’s 30 years’ service

Belgrade Polymer Products has recognised the loyal 30 years’ service of one of its longest-serving employees, Paul Lovelock.

Paul, a Supervisor, was presented with a Citizen Eco-Drive ‘perpetual movement’ watch as a commemorative gift by Belgrade General Manager Patrick Burke.

Joining the Wellingborough-based thermoforming company from school as a trainee, Paul initially worked on the ‘encapsulator’ machine making water tank insulation jackets.

From there, he progressed through the ranks, gaining experience on thermoforming machines and a fork lift truck licence that enabled him to move into setting up machines for production. His accrual of a wide range of skills led to his promotion to Day Shift Supervisor eight years ago.

Commenting on his three-decade career, Paul said: “What I enjoy most is everything; there’s such a vast array of jobs to do. I believe that’s what keeps myself and everybody interested in the type of work here. It is so varied. One week it may be producing the same product, then the following week it could be three or four types of work, depending on the product.”

Patrick said: “Paul is one of the stalwarts of the team, a person that any of the new operatives can go to. We’ve had several youngsters join over the last few years and Paul has been involved in their induction and training on the different machines and he is often the first port of call if there’s an issue with one of the machines.”

He added: “His longevity with us also illustrates our commitment to career progression for employees; in particular for school-leavers who can benefit from learning opportunities and acquiring valuable skills along the way.”

Established in 1976, Belgrade Polymer Products is one of the UK’s leading thermoforming and injection-moulding companies and holds the quality management system accreditation ISO9001:2015.

Manufacturing bespoke products for customers across a huge number of industries and markets, including household names and big brands, it has specialist expertise in producing prototype items that can be quickly converted into large scale production.

Belgrade Polymer Products has promoted Daniel Mong to Operations Manager. His promotion comes 12 months after he joined the Wellingborough-based thermo-forming and injection-moulding company as an Operator.

With broad experience built up from working in various sectors of the plastics industry, Daniel is responsible for the smooth running of Belgrade’s operations, including maintenance of stock control, ordering systems and processes. He works alongside Belgrade’s Production Manager, Mick Pratt.

Patrick Burke, Belgrade General Manager said: “Daniel’s wealth of expertise and experience in the industry is a great asset to the business and we are delighted to recognise this with his well-deserved promotion.”

Commenting on his role, Daniel said: “I’ve always been fascinated with how things are made. It’s very satisfying to see a product take shape; you’re creating something. Not only that, the sustainability aspect is very important to me as a plastic product can be reused or recycled and be given a whole new lease of life.

“At Belgrade, we take a fully-integrated approach to our manufacturing operations and recycle our own scrap material, which then goes back into the production process.”

Belgrade Polymer Products grows in fenestration sector
Belgrade Polymer Products grows in fenestration sector

Thermoforming specialist Belgrade Polymer Products is growing its presence in the fenestration sector as a result of increased business from one of its conservatory roof systems customers.

The Wellingborough-based company has delivered orders of two further square conservatory capping products in grey for its Gloucestershire client. The two new Acrylic Capped ABS cappings make up a ‘suite’ of three separate products, which are variations of an existing design. These latest products comprise a Straight Connector and Stop End that is integrated into the conservatory roof and drainage system.

Belgrade Polymer Products General Manager, Patrick Burke explains: “We started off producing just one product – a Square External Boss End Capping - just over a year ago and now this has grown to three versions for this particular customer.

“Our customer liked what we’d supplied to other conservatory roof systems manufacturers in the past. Having seen our capping products on other roof systems, they liked the design, quality and finish. On that basis, we won their further business.”

Established in 1976, Belgrade offers a fast, friendly and flexible service manufacturing bespoke products to customers’ exact requirements in diverse industry sectors. Conservatory roof trims and cappings can be produced in any RAL colour or foil finish, including a new carbon fibre-effect finish, subject to a minimum order quantity. The standard product range comprises of established and popular colours such as White, Golden Oak, Rosewood and Woodgrain.

Belgrade Polymer Products prides itself on working closely with clients to find solutions to their new concepts and can undertake the complete process of product development from design and prototype to manufacture.

Patrick adds: “In the fenestration sector, we are currently working with several customers on creating new products for conservatory roof systems, including end cappings.
